I clocked it at more or less 1 hr and 23 mins. My Power Run official time was 10 mins more than my personal time I think. This is because of our “Alabang, trip to Jerusalem” hehe. We were 10 mins late because of our “shortcut” from EDSA to Bicutan then back to EDSA to MOA hahahahahahaha!!!! I won’t discuss further details about that shortcut (ang tanga ko kasi hehehe). Going back to the race, hmmmm… No marshalls at the 8k to 9k mark. I was a bit confused and irritated cause I don’t really know where to go. I stopped and asked the runners about the route and told me that I was on the wrong way. After the race, I studied the race maze and found out that I really had a “wrong mistake” hehe.. But still, distance covered were almost the same, take a look at the picture (the red arrow was my “private road” hihi.. I was also running with some “lost runners”)
Sorry but I can’t comment about how/where the water stations must be placed. I did not bother to take more cups from the station although I took a couple of water off the plastic cups (2 cups maybe, from different stations), 1 for my complaining lungs and the other for my “real” head (with eyes, lips, nose and ears). Some of the runners complained because the last water station was placed at the 11th k mark and no more after that.
After the race, I think I was kinda satisfied since it was my first 15k and took control of it with a PR of 1:23+. Maybe the Ultra training and Marikina road run did a great job. I really did a “Power Run” yay!! For the first 5k, I can’t feel anything in my right foot (numb maybe). I don’t know the exact cause of that, some say that it is from lack of stretching or warm up. Bananas might be a great help either. Further running and increase of pace kept me going. I pushed a little harder on my 7th k hoping to get closer to Rans (Alain, Rans and I started the 15k together, how sweet! Haha! Pugs was always punctual.) But Rans was really strong. His pace was faster than mine. Suddenly, I pushed again at the 8th k mark and left Rans behind me (thanks to the water station). I noticed that my pace was amplified the moment I poured water to my “real” head. Parang makina!! But Rans was also pushing, I was already behind him when the inevitable happened, I stopped to ask the runners if I’m on the right track. I thought it was the merging of 10k and 15k runners, but I was wrong. “Wrong mistake!!” Poor job, no marshalls hahayssss!!
11k to 15k… That was the distance where I forced myself to increase the pace. I heard myself uttering the words repeatedly, “kaya mo pa pala eh.” Also, I heard runners saying “di ko na kaya, p*ta wala nang tubig, ang layo parang 17k to ah!!” I don’t know if the distance was really 15k but my time shows that it really is 15k. Some garmin users said that it was 18k but I don’t care. What matters to me is how I finished the race with my friends. We’re full of energy, enthusiasm, courage with positive pride and of course during the race, the “payabangan” among my running group. After all, at the very end of the race, no display of superiority was seen. All of us were saying “Ang lakas mo!!!”
Congrats to Rio (10k, 1st) and Team Bald Runner (Mr. Sabal, 1st, clocked the 15k at 48 flat, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ang lakas!!!). Congrats as well to all the 5k, 10k and 15k finishers. And to Lems of happy feet, congrats din sa 5k!!
And by the way, my nipples hurt… awts!!!
PS. Fasten your seatbelt and avoid the yellow lanes amffness!!!
